Melbourne Cup Day
This year celebrates the 150th running of the Melbourne Cup! The race is run over 3200 meters and it’s because of this gruelling distance that many hold the race in such high regard. First run in 1861 the race was won by Archer and again in 1862, but the most famous winner of the Melbourne Cup is undoubtable Phar Lap. Other winners include Makybe Diva, Let’s Elope and Rain Lover.
